Where's my shelefant gun? =>:o{
Currently the top three reasons (based on Google ranking) to have nothing to do with Shelfari:

1. Apologizing to my network for Shelfari Spam

2. Shelfari spam: "basically social networking rapists"
(yeah, I don't like the hyperbole in that quote either, but aside from that...)

3. Shelfari Has Pissed Me Off

Oh, bother. a Quechup copycat.

What gets to me is that even after people get burned by this, it doesn't occur to them that it couldn't have happened if they hadn't given out the passwords to their email accounts. The author of one of those posts thinks it was all the fault of the check boxes.

There's a very simple and safe rule: Never give out third-party passwords to anyone you wouldn't give your house keys to. Any website that asks for a third-party password has a dishonest motive.
